McMullen and Wing
After Baileys, Aaron moved on to McMullen and Wing, honing his timber skills with super Yacht interior fit outs and teak decks on new builds and refits such as the 1902 schooner Shenandoah of the Sark. He also had a hand in building the black boats for New Zealands successful bid to take on the rest of the world in the Americas cup challenge.
Alloy Yachts
Aaron then went on to Alloy Yachts installing high end Interiors fit outs on Alloys award winning Super Yachts Working on vessels such a Kokomo and Geogia which at the time was the tallest sloop in the world.
Formula Cruisers
Two years later Aaron moved onto Formula Cruisers. Employed to revamp and run the interior timber shop, Then also taking on the polish shop and running interior fit out.
Global Marine Interiors / Lifestyle Yachts Ltd
After several years at Formulas in 2002, Aaron felt it was time to move on and challenge himself further by setting up his own company Global Marine Interiors, contracting with a small team of staff to other yards fitting out interiors and building Teak decks. Global Marine contracted to the biggest names in the industry – Alloy Yachts, Sensation Yachts, Sovereign Yachts, Fitzroy Yachts and Q west.
Interior fitout developed into a range of different jobs all over Auckland including marina work and repairs and maintenance. Global Marine secured its first new build for their long-standing lawyer. This was quite different to what Aaron was used to being a 14.5m sail catamaran designed by the late great Ron Given. It was at this time Aaron and his wife Christina decided it was time to move the family out of Auckland to the Hauraki Plains for a new Lifestyle Change. This build helped secure a close working relationship with Ron Given which then lead on to consecutive builds from Ron Givens drawing table. Global Marine Interiors was renamed Lifestyle Yachts and the company moved forward building ten new builds out of the yard behind their house, including a Dick Newick sailing Trimaran built as a cargo vessel for the outer islands of Tonga and a 16m Roger Hill cruising power cat. Lifestyle Yachts also covered alterations, Maintenance, insurance work, complete repaints and antifouls. Lifestyle and Aaron Beattie covered all areas of the marine industry. This has given Aaron a huge broad range of skills and knowledge over the past 35 years.
Unfortunately The 35 years of hard work on the tools has taken its toll and Aaron needed to look towards his next chapter wanting to stay in the marine industry Marine Inspection Services was formed.
